Some guys are told that old touring cars will make good drifters , slap on drift tires and just go for it or drift 50/50 and own it. Well , I for one am a champion for using what you can afford to buy BUT provided you buy the right equipment for the job.
Technology has progressed so much that you don't need to take a regular touring car and "convert it" into a drifter. Companies like 3Racing, Tamiya , HPI, MST, Yokomo, Overdose, and a few others all produce drift specific cars..some 50/50 BUT it is drift specific. This isn't a rant, but just something I thought that I would share.
My reason for this topic is aimed specifically at the local rc community. The word im trying to use here is COMPLACENT. We need to stop being complacent if we want to up our skill and be on the same level as our bro's from across the globe. I love all of rc drifting...from social to competitive but being complacent is what is bringing down our progression.
Im not just pulling out these comments from the air...this is based one my own experience over the years of drifting. Granted I may not have that many years behind but I do come with a quality and quantity of experience.
I know first hand the tough economic times we live in, I know this all too well. I may have been lucky but I work hard everyday and all the time for what I have and I never take it for granted. I also save up patiently and then buy for what I want. That way I buy once and buy right.
So my advice to you guys,, complacency is what is kills progression. If you want to get into the hobby be it social or competitive get the right equipment for the job. You will enjoy drifting so much more if you get the right stuff than to struggle and get it right and then leave the hobby cos you are frustrated to no end.
